After more than a decade working his way through the newspaper management ranks, I added a camera to my repertoire and changed to a holistic storytelling focus, leading teams as a creative director and general manager.
I’m currently the general manager of the Creative Lab @McClatchy, heading a nationwide branded content creation team that conceives and produces video, written, graphic and interactive work for clients looking to boost their brands and drive leads. Creative Lab won numerous awards during my tenure, and I boosted creative sales more than 15X in my first 18 months in the role.
Before McClatchy, I was Director of Story Development at the USO, one of America's oldest and most esteemed nonprofits. There, I guided a team of multimedia journalists that has produced hundreds of stories and nearly two dozen industry awards in writing, videography and photography, all while setting organizational records for content engagement. Stories from my team's 2016 USO Route 75 initiative – a road trip around the United States chronicling stories about the USO for the organization’s 75th anniversary – generated more than 1.9 million Facebook video views, millions more social media feed impressions and hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue.
My work has been featured in Washington Post Express, The Baltimore Sun, Stars and Stripes, Connect Sports Magazine plus additional publications and campaigns for numerous brands.
When I’m not producing stories, I’m either reading, on my Peloton, traveling or spending time with my wife and two dogs (not necessarily in that order).
